Derek McGee serves as Chief Legal Counsel and Senior Executive Officer of Origin Bancorp, Inc. (NYSE: OBK) and its subsidiary, Origin Bank. In this capacity, Mr. McGee oversees all legal matters involving the company and is actively involved in formulating and executing various strategic initiatives for the company. Previously, Mr. McGee served as a partner of Fenimore Kay Harrison LLP where his primary area of focus was corporate, securities and regulatory representation of financial institutions. Prior to that, Mr. McGee was an attorney in the financial institutions group at Hunton Andrews Kurth LLP (formerly Hunton & Williams LLP). He has extensive experience representing financial institutions in merger and acquisition transactions and securities offerings, as well as SEC reporting and regulatory compliance matters. Mr. McGee is a past board member of the Independent Bankers Association of Texas (IBAT) and the IBAT Leadership Division, as well as past Vice Chairman of IBAT’s Associate Member Advisory Council. In addition, he served on the board of First Tee of Greater Austin for six years. Mr. McGee received a B.B.A. in Finance from Baylor University and a J.D. from Southern Methodist University.
Mr. McGee was an accomplished junior golfer and his love of the game continues today. He played golf at Tyler Junior College for two years and regularly plays in local and regional amateur golf events. He is a member at Barton Creek Country Club in Austin, Texas; Squire Creek Country Club in Choudrant, Louisiana; and Whispering Pines Golf Club in Trinity, Texas.
