A former Pepperdine Golf Team Captain and WCC All-Conference honoree, Kurt Schuette began his career as a PGA Apprentice before returning to Pepperdine as Head Men’s Golf Coach (1988–1994). There, he won four conference championships, elevated the program to a Top 20 national ranking, and laid the foundation for sustained NCAA Championship contention, including the program’s first NCAA Regional and Finals appearances and first All-American.
Schuette went on to USC, serving as Head Coach before being promoted to Director of Men’s and Women’s Golf and later Director of Golf, Facilities, and Development. During his tenure, USC qualified for 16 NCAA Finals on the men’s side and won three NCAA Division I Women’s Championships, producing dozens of All-Americans and multiple individual national champions. He also founded the USC Coaches Council, generating $500,000–$1 million annually to develop world-class golf facilities and expand access to premier clubs and training environments.
In 2012, Schuette secured and hosted the NCAA Division I Men’s Golf Championship at Riviera Country Club — a defining moment for collegiate golf. Featuring future PGA TOUR players such as Jordan Spieth and Justin Thomas and staged at one of the game’s most revered venues, the championship elevated the national visibility and stature of NCAA golf. Its success helped usher in annual television coverage of the NCAA Men’s and Women’s Golf Championships and contributed to renewed momentum for elite competitive golf events throughout Southern California.
With more than 30 years of Division I experience as a player, coach, and administrator, Schuette has built deep relationships across collegiate athletics and the broader golf industry. His leadership has consistently focused on program-building, facility development, strategic partnerships, and advancing the game at the collegiate level.
